Cafe for dogs

Every week I'm going to find a news article to share with you.

In Busan, Japan, there is a dog cafe. The cafe is made for homeless dogs and you can come in, play with the dogs and eat food. This is also for people who work a lot of the time or don't have enough room to take care of dogs to bond with them. The people who own the cafe got the idea from a cat cafe.

Something special

This is something special

This is Caramel. He was my 4th teddy. I got him for Christmas from my grandma. I sleep with him every night. I've had him ever since I was 5 years old. He is as special as my family and friends.

A-Z paragraph about me

This week our weekly challenge was to write a A-Z paragraph about ourselves.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

I am amazing, bubbly and creative. I love to dance and eat. I like to be funny and grab things I'm not allowed to get. I always say "Hello my name is ice cream". I jump all day, and only sometimes I get a Kit-Kat. Scrumdidilyumptious lollipops mmmm. Nothing can stop me! Olivia's nickname is Livi so please let me talk to the Queen. I am ridiculously silly human being. Tutus are annoying and once I wore underpants on my head. I have verbal diarrhea according to my mummy. I am a wonderful xylophone player. I enjoy eating yogurt at the zoo.

My key competency goals

My key competency goal is managing self,
To do this I will tidy my desk and keep it tidy.
I also will do my homework every night, and return it every Friday.

I hope to achieve these goals before the end of term 2.

My writing goal

My writing goal is language features.
I will do this by using things like similes, metaphors and personification.
I hope to achieve these goals before the end of term 2.

EOTC week Youth town

Wednesday was epic. Youth town came and they had a whole load of awesome activities planned for the day.

First Miss Cooper called the roll. The whiteboard people stood up and wrote some rules on the whiteboard. Then we went outside and Miss Cooper told us our groups: Group A, group B, group C, group D, or group E. I was in group A.

Next we did tipi building. Freya's grandma and 2 other adults helped us. We got split into 3 groups. In my group I had Hannah, Livi and Rebecca. Freya's grandma told us to find 3 bamboo sticks and a piece of string. She helped us tie a knot around the top of the bamboo sticks. We stood the tipi up with the help of Ruby's mum, the group leader. We chucked the tarpoline over it. There was enough time to play in our tipi. I watched the other group scream while they rode on the cart they made.

Then we did archery. The man teaching us archery split us into 2 groups. He taught us how to load the arrows and how to shoot. Then the two people at the front of the lines picked the bows up from the stands, clipped the arrows on, aimed and shot. Everyone had thier go. Next we had the competition. The first boys stood forward and shot three arrows each. Favion, the man who taught us archery, recorded the scores. The next 2 people stepped forward got the bows and shot. We got through everyone else very quickly. Favion announced the scores and my team won!!!

After that we went back to the field and started building a flintstones car. First the man taught us how to do a carpenters hitch. He tested us and then taught us the glove hitch. Then we started putting the cart together; carpenters hitch, lashing and lastly, glove hitch. Next we got into groups of 3. There were 4 groups. Group 1 got on and rode to the other side. They got off, then my group got on, and so on. We each got 2 goes. We took the cart apart and played on the playground.

Next was problem solving. Roman's mum Abbie and Jacob's mum helped. First up minefield.  I tried first but I only managed to get one circle. Once we hade finished that, we moved onto a game where you each have 1 pipe and you had to get a golf ball from one side to the other without letting it touch the ground. That was hard. After that we did a huge puzzle. One group had yellow and one group had blue. We had to hide the pieces and find the other colour. My team won again. The next game was where one person put one plank on a dot and connected it to another dot. You only had three planks and you had to get everyone to the other side just by walking on the planks. Last but not least was the shrinking island. We had a piece of tarpaulin. You had to fold it and keep everyone on it.

Lastly we went down to the gully and did Wilkie talkies. Tintin told us the rules and put us in pairs. We got to run around and have a little play with the Wilkie talkies. Then tintin called us back to base. Next we played hide and seek. That was fun. Lastly we played naughty and crosses. We gave the walkie talkies back.

That was the end of Wednesday.

Hot dog maths

For problem solving we had to find as many combinations with hot chocolate maths. After that we had to make our own one. I did hot dog maths.

Hot dog maths

Bread roll: bap, plain, grain
Sausage: pork, frankfurter
Toppings: tomato sauce, mustard
See how many combinations you can make. Please leave them in a comment.

If you are stuck here's how I solved hot chocolate maths.

Please leave your answer in the comments section below.

My reading goals

These are my reading goals

Expanding vocabulary

I can tune into interesting words and use these in my speaking and writing.
I will be trying to achieve these throughout the year. I have this goal because I always read all these interesting words and I never use them in my writing and I also never really use them when I talk.

EOTC week reflection

1. How are you feeling about EOTC week? Explain?

I'm really excited about it because it will be my first time going to Rangitoto and I get to go back to the Orakie marae.

2. What are you looking forward to most in EOTC week? Explain.

Going to Rangitoto for the first time and the pools on Friday.

3. What are you not so excited about in EOTC week? Explain.

Nothing because everything sounds exciting.

4. Is there any activity that has you feeling a bit anxious/worried? Explain why.

Going to Rangitoto because I don't really like going on the ferry.

5. In Room 32 we are working on managing ourselves - that means being responsible and making good decisions. Tell us how you could make good decisions and be responsible during EOTC week.

I'll listen to my group and my leader. I'll include everyone.

6. Make 3 goals for EOTC week. They could be simple goals like I will listen to my team leader or they could be something like I will take care of my belongings.

My 3 goals for EOTC week are   1. Listen to my leader. 2. Take care of my belongings. 3. Have fun!!!

I think this will be the best week at school ever!
